Battalion Chief John Ignatczyk is a veteran leader with over 25 years of service with the Los Angeles Fire Department. Chief Ignatczyk serves as Secretary of the Chief Officers Association, where he supports executive coordination, maintains organizational continuity, and ensures clear communication on issues impacting chief officers and the members they represent.
He currently serves as the Section Commander of the In-Service Training Section (ISTS), where he leads the planning, development, and delivery of comprehensive training programs for both uniformed and civilian personnel. His responsibilities include oversight of leadership development, driver training, live fire and smoke recognition, and programs aligned with State Fire Training (SFT), CICCS, and CALJAC/Target Solutions. The section also produces training bulletins, instructional media, and livestreamed professional development content, supporting consistent, department-wide readiness. With a background in disaster preparedness and large-scale program coordination, Chief Ignatczyk plays a key role in advancing operational capability and workforce development.
