COA Board Elections:
Congratulations to incumbents John Miller, Mike Rhodes, Don Frazeur
And newly elected to the COA Board, Randy Beaty
Professional Standards Division:
Progress of the Department’s new PSD, Assistant Chief Terrazas moving permanently into PSD, in Phase I.
FF Bill of Rights:
Discussion regarding new proposed procedures. Chief Officers should contact COA for guidance and representation if required to be interviewed.
Working on policies and working out some issues involved.
New Chief Officer Uniform Policy:
Letter of Agreement signed for Special Duty Uniform outlining uniform modifications for members represented by MOU #22
COA Secretary Vacancy:
Interviews will be held in the near future for secretarial position
DROP Study:
Discussed briefly the recent DROP “Review of Cost Neutrality” and the planned meetings coming up. Also briefly discussed the Public Service Purchase (PSP) Program.
UFLAC By-Law Changes:
Allows Chief Officers to utilize benefits (primarily life insurance and dental) as Associate members and will not be required to pay dues to UFLAC. Agreement still needs to be looked at signed off.
COA Requests to its Membership:
To lead by example.
Routinely visit their fire stations and develop a working relationship with their Captains and members.
Improve communications.
COA Website:
Randy Beaty discussed proposed improvements to the COA website including a working PayCheck Calculator.
Frank Taylor Memorial Dedication Ceremony:
Monday, January 28th, 0930 @ Lankershim Bl. And Weddington St.
COA donated $250 to event

Commissioner Hudley-Hayes has 2 years on the Fire Commission and is currently serving as President. She has always had a very positive view of the LAFD residing in the Crenshaw District near Fire Stations 66 and 94. Commissioner Hudley-Hayes firmly believes that the LAFD is “The First Responders for Public Safety.”
Commissioner Hudley-Hayes has a Civil Rights background with a PhD in Political Science. She was past President of the LAUSD and was selected for the Fire Commission by Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa whom she has known for 25 years.
Commissioner Hudley-Hayes is truly an advocate of the LAFD. She spoke and answered questions for nearly 90 minutes. She discussed the budget challenges, the new Professional Standards Division, the Controller’s audit, and her support for the Fire Chief and the COA.
